Sofia Reverendo, LMSW
Sofia Reverendo is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and a full-time clinician at The Child and Family Institute. She obtained her Master’s in Social Work at New York University, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Spanish.
Sofia discovered her love for working with children when she volunteered at a children’s therapy center in college where she developed a strong bond with a young child on the autism spectrum, through the use of a therapeutic brush. Sofia has experience providing psychotherapy both individually and in groups to younger children from various demographic backgrounds in a public elementary school. She also has experience providing psychotherapy, including trauma-focused CBT and DBT, to the parents and caregivers of infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone Health.
Sofia uses a warm, nurturing, and open-minded approach when meeting with clients to build rapport and establish a meaningful connection. She mainly draws from the evidence-based practices and modalities of CBT, DBT, play therapy, mindfulness, person-in-environment, and trauma-informed care.
