Sharon Kim, B.A.
Sharon Kim, a pre-doctoral extern at the Child and Family Institute, is a 3rd-year Ph.D. student in School Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University. She graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Korean Studies from Stony Brook University. At her fieldwork placement, Sharon worked with a diverse group of elementary and middle school students on counseling and psychoeducational assessments. She worked with children struggling with AD/HD, anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation. In terms of therapeutic practice, she values providing treatment that is culturally and trauma-informed, and focuses on a cognitive-behavioral framework (CBT). She is interested in culturally-informed therapeutic healing for LGBTQ+ youth. Sharon is dedicated to providing a safe space to her clients through empathy and warmth.
