Olivia Matthes Theriault, LP-MHC, is CFI/WI clinician providing telehealth and in-person psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and their families in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Westchester. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Applied Psychology Department within the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at NYU. Olivia recently completed her clinical internship at a day treatment center for children ages 5-12, where she collaborated with educators, medication providers, and families to promote child and family well-being. She comes from a research, policy, and advocacy background, working with children and families in early childhood education, and within the NYC juvenile justice and inpatient mental healthcare systems. As a result of these experiences, Olivia takes a person-centered, multicultural, and rights-based approach to her work with children and families, using Child-Centered Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques in session. Olivia works with a wide range of clinical presentations and diagnoses and has experience working with children with anxiety, depression, disruptive disorders, and trauma-related diagnoses. Olivia’s primary goal in working with children and families is to empower clients to find effective coping and communication strategies to build authentic relationships with themselves, their families, and their peers.
