Lindsey Norton is a predoctoral psychology extern at the Child and Family Institute. She received her BA in Psychology from Marist University in 2023 and is currently pursuing a PsyD in School Psychology at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University. This May, she completed her PsyM at GSAPP and obtained her New Jersey School Psychologist certification.

Lindsey’s professional training began in school settings alongside child study teams to conduct psychoeducational evaluations and engage in school-based counseling. Most recently, Lindsey worked as a psychology extern at Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CUCARD) – Westchester, where she co-led skills groups and exposure therapy groups through their Adolescent Day Program. She also maintained an outpatient caseload where she provided individual and family therapy for the specialized treatment of anxiety and related disorders. In both schools and clinical settings, Lindsey has worked with individuals across the lifespan with a variety of presentations, including GAD, OCD, ADHD, ASD, MDD, DMDD, social anxiety, learning disabilities, selective mutism, tic disorders, and BFRBs.

Lindsey’s therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while also utilizing an integrative, evidence-based framework that highlights modalities including ACT, ERP, PMT, DBT, and HRT. Lindsey is especially interested in working with adolescents, and enjoys treating anxiety disorders, school-based concerns, and executive functioning challenges.

Lindsey is currently a student member of the New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA). Her dissertation research evaluates the use of contingency management (CM) as a reinforcement for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery-supportive behaviors. Lindsey has had the opportunity to present her research at Rutgers University’s Center of Alcohol and Substance Use Studies (CAS) in April 2026 and has contributed to several publications on the topics of SUD in clinical settings and restorative justice in schools.
