Emily Amouyal, M.A.

Emily Amouyal is a clinical psychology predoctoral extern at The Child & Family Institute (CFI), currently pursuing her Psy.D. in the APA-accredited Adult Clinical Psychology Program at Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Behavioral and Decision Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania.

Before beginning her doctoral training, Emily worked as a math instructor in New York City, teaching Grade 8 mathematics using a problem-based learning pedagogy. This experience deepened her understanding of cognitive and affective development and her commitment to meeting individuals where they are.

Emily’s clinical training spans neuropsychological assessment and psychotherapy across the lifespan. She completed an externship in Clinical Neuropsychology at Weill Cornell Medicine’s Department of Neurological Surgery, conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients with complex neurological conditions. She is currently a student clinician at Ferkauf’s Parnes Clinic in the Bronx practicing in the CBT track, and is also training at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School’s Division of Addiction Psychiatry, working with individuals with substance use concerns.

Emily is particularly interested in exposure-based interventions as tools for helping clients build insight, tolerate distress, and create meaningful change. Her clinical interests center on anxiety, mood disorders, and co-occurring conditions. Through her work in the ADAPT Lab under Dr. Lata McGinn, she is developing an implementation guide for the Mind Action Mood (M&M) Program, a 12-session curriculum incorporating guided symptom exposure and CBT-based strategies to help individuals identify and regulate their emotions, and contributing to outcome research on anxiety and depression.

Emily has been dedicated to service throughout her training. She served as a Crisis Counselor with Crisis Text Line, volunteering over 200 hours annually, and was a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. She currently serves on the Ferkauf Mentorship Committee, supporting incoming doctoral students.
