 LGBTQ+ Program

Emma Romey, LCSW, Clinical Director

At CFI, we have extensive expertise in working with LGBTQ+ youth, and related issues.

Prior to joining CFI, Clinical Director, Dr. Rivers, specialized in working with transgender, gender fluid, and gender-questioning youth, during her pre-doctoral internship at the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center at Mt. Sinai Medical Center/Icahn School of Medicine, delivering trauma informed treatment in primary care and mental health clinic settings, as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy to LGBTQ+ youth with high-risk behaviors. Dr. Rivers is committed to helping youth and their families navigate difficult transitions, including gender and sexual identity transitions, handling the onset and continued treatment of medical illnesses, transitioning schools and peer groups, and moving forward after experiencing trauma and loss.

Dr. Rivers is partcularly eager to help Westchester and NY Metro area LGBTQ+ youth find a safe space at CFI to explore their gender and sexual identities and the unique stressors and mental health challenges that they can face.
